We can barely afford to get our own children any gifts this Christmas so we won’t be exchanging gifts with anyone (we’ll scrape something up for our kids) this Christmas. Should I announce this to family and friends so they won’t feel obligated to get us something or expect something from us? How should I handle this?

yes i think you should announce this to close family members and friends.This is not so that they don’t feel obligated to get you a present but that if they happen to give you one then there is that awkward moment of "here’s your present where is mine."Plus with the nearly everyone lacking in the money department,myself included, should definitely understand. The best way to handle it would be to say it honestly like i said they should understand

I work at a call center were a bunch of stupid people call in that get lured into memberships with a $50 gift card, free gas or cash back. They call me to cancel these memberships. some of them I’d like to tell them stuff that’s not scripted. Is there some hardware that I can put between my headset and the phone that will block the digital recordings, yet lets the customer and I speak?

There are about 4 staff workers in each unit - an RN and several aides. The Nursing Home sent a note saying that cash gifts aren’t permitted, but cookies or fruit are ok. The aides rolled their eyes at that. I got the impression that gift cards might be ok, but don’t know how much to purchase. One aide in particular has spent a lot of time with our family member and with us.

Family member was recently admitted to a unit with 16 patients.

Give the aide that spent alot of time with your family member a gift card to a popular restaurant. And give the other staff workers $1 Coffee Mugs.

I know what the origins of Christmas trees are…comes from paganism. but what about the practice of putting gifts underneath it?

Yes the trees are pagan, the gifts at Christmas actually come from the real/original Saint Nicholas as do stockings

I am 13 and need to give gifts to my dad, mom, grandma, and grandpa. My family is running tight on money so I don’t get much to spend on gifts. I do NOT want ideas like coupons or dumb stuff like that I want to give them something they will find useful or something that they will REALLY like. Ideas PLEASE I appreciate it.

How about rice bags? Fill a sock with white rice. Sew it closed tightly. Make a cover out of flannel. The finished rice bag can be microwaved for a neck/foot/cuddly warmer, or put in the freezer to place on injuries.
